The Australian Embassy in Amman hosted a fundraising event on Tuesday in support of CARE International in Jordan focused on assisting Syrian refugees.
In a ceremony at the Australian Embassy, Australian Ambassador to Jordan Heidi Venamore announced that the event was held to coincide with World Refugee day this year.
The envoy handed the cheque to the Country Director of Care Jordan Salam Kanaan.
Australia has contributed AUD130 million (USD121,368 million) to those affected by the Syrian crisis, according to a press release by the embassy.
This amount includes funding to assist internally displaced people inside Syria and refugees and host communities in the region, including in Jordan.
