Top Chinese legislator Zhang Dejiang met on Monday with Matrai Marta, First Officer of the Hungarian National Assembly, in Beijing.
Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), said China and Hungary enjoy deep friendship and praised the growing political mutual trust, cooperation and exchanges between the two sides.
The two sides signed a cooperative document on jointly advancing the Belt and Road initiative last year, which has tapped great potential for bilateral cooperation, said Zhang.
He called on the two countries to further their cooperation within the framework of China-Europe cooperation and China-CEEC (Central and Eastern European countries) cooperation, or "16+1" cooperation.
The NPC attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with the Hungarian National Assembly, said Zhang, hoping the two legislative bodies can maintain friendly exchanges to jointly benefit the two peoples and the development of bilateral ties.
Matrai said the development strategies of the two nations are quite compatible, and the Hungary National Assembly is willing to promote in-depth development of bilateral pragmatic cooperation.
