
Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt James Moran asserted that 2015 was a successful year in cooperation with Egypt.
In a press conference on Sunday, Moran said the EU and its member statesd remained in 2015 a crucial trade partner and foreign investor in Egypt, adding that EU is considered the most important development partner to Egypt.
The EU allocated to Egypt 1.1 billion euros in 2015 as financial aid.
A total of 45 percent of the aid was allocated to human, health and social development, 40 percent to infrastructure and environment and the remaining percentage to trade and institutions establishment.
A part of the 2015, aid was allocated to increase 2.33-billion-euros loans that aim to support long-term investment program.
He added that 1.5 million Egyptians benefited from the EU aid in energy sector, 8.5 million Egyptians in water sector, 1.3 million Egyptians in transportation sector and 2.2 million Egyptians in waste management sector.
The ambassador also asserted the importance of fostering bilateral relations in culture and art fields as well as research, development and innovation.
