
Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Essam Fayed said on Monday that the governmental strategy aiming at raising cotton crop returns began to bear fruits after increasing global demand for it and signing contracts to export it to more than 20 countries.
The minister's made the remarks during the national conference on supporting cotton cultivation and advancing textile industry, organized by ministry of manpower and Egyptian Union For Investors Associations and under the auspices of Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.
Fayed added cotton hit new unprecedented levels which will provide a reasonable profit margin for the product and encourage farmers to cultivate it.
The strategy adopted by the ministry aims basically at reforming cotton production and marketing system to bring it back to previous status and quality internationally, he said.
