U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner says European leaders have to make it clear that they "stand behind" its financial system so that it can fund and finance the economic recovery, as AP reported. Geithner says "I think they recognize that they're going to have to do more to earn the confidence of the world." Geithner, who is to join eurozone finance ministers this weekend in a meeting in Poland, said Europe's leaders know they've "been behind the curve" and dismissed suggestions Europe was about to have its own Lehman moment, a reference to the U.S. investment bank that was allowed to collapse in September 2008. Geithner said Europe's leaders have the financial capacity "to do what it takes to hold this thing together."
