
Japan's industrial production in February fell 6.2 pct from the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Wednesday.
The seasonally adjusted production index for the manufacturing and mining sectors stood at 93.6 against 100 for the base year of 2010. In the previous month, the index was up 3.7 pct.
The February result compared with the median forecast of a 6.0 pct drop among 21 economic research institutes surveyed by Jiji Press.
The shipment index stood at 93.5, down 4.6 pct, and the inventory index at 112.0, down 0.1 pct.
Production at manufacturers is expected to increase 3.9 pct in March and grow 5.3 pct in April, the ministry said.
