Jordanian-EU committee convenes in Brussels

The 11th meeting of the Joint Jordanian-European Partnership Committee kicked off here on Thursday to discuss ways to bolster cooperation between the two sides.
The meeting was co-chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh and Italy's Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the EU.
During the meeting, Judeh spoke about the various reform schemes currently underway in the Kingdom, mainly in the economic and political domains.
The minister also briefed the conferees on the latest developments in the Middle East, while stressing the importance of putting an end to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. Judeh, meanwhile, reiterated the need to rebuild Gaza following the Israeli aggression and to put an end to the provocative Israeli measures against Al Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
Jordan, the foreign minister said, totally and categorically refuses these measures that pose threat to the peace process.
Further, the top diplomat spoke about the ramifications of the Syrian crisis on Jordan and the ongoing influx of Syrian refugees into the Kingdom. Judeh highlighted the pressure being borne by local communities hosting Syrian refugees.
