
The number of persons employed increased by 0.2 percent in the 18 euro area members and by 0.3 percent in the 28 EU states in the second quarter of 2014 compared with the previous quarter.
Compared with the corresponding period of last year, employment grew by 0.4 percent in the euro area and by 0.7 percent in the EU in Q2 2014, according to figures published Friday by Eurostat, the EU statistical office.
Eurostat estimated that 224.9 million men and women were employed in the EU, of who 146.5 million were in the euro area, in the second quarter of 2014.
