
Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on Sunday met with Director of the Trade in Services division of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Abdel Hamid Mamdouh.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Africa 2016 Forum that kicked off on Saturday.
Ismail hailed cooperation between Egypt and the WTO, expressing hope to boost cooperation between the two sides in the coming period, which will help in promoting international trade and achieving economic growth in Egypt and the world.
Cabinet Spokesman Hossam Qawish said that the premier briefed the WTO envoy on latest measures taken by the government to increase tariffs on the final product of some commodity groups to protect the public health, ensure the safety of the Egyptian citizen of shoddy products, protect the national industry and control the Egyptian market.
For his part, Mamdouh said the invitation for Egypt to attend the meetings of the Group of Twenty in China reaffirms Egypt's regional and international status of and its large role on the world economic map.
