Economic sanctions imposed against Russia do not affect operations of Finnair, head of representative office of the Finnish air carrier in Russia Maria Anufrieva told TASS on Monday.
"Sanction issues do not immediately influence on operations of the airline. Everything related to intergovernmental agreements in the aviation industry is strongly separated and isolated from any political and sanction issues," Anufrieva said.
Any changes in the airline operations are commercial, she added. "Finland has always been a close partner of Russia, primarily in terms of the economy. Accordingly, issues of opening and closing flights are primarily associated for us as a business company with the commercial component and financial interests. Nobody needs any risks with transportation and flights," Anufrieva said.
Finnair is currently flying to six Russian cities, with Moscow and St. Petersburg being the main destinations.
