Scotland offers attractive business opportunities in the renewable energy sector for investors in the Arab world, a government official said from Abu Dhabi. Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond led a delegation of key government officials on a five-day visit to Abu Dhabi. Salmond, in a statement, said he was able to share investment opportunities for regional economic allies in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Scotland has pushed aggressively to develop wind, marine and hydropower in an effort to get all of its electricity needs from renewable energy resources by the end of the decade Edinburgh last week said it set up a task force to help move the country closer to its 2020 goal of 100 percent electricity from renewable energy. Salmond said now was the time to invest in Scotland. "Scotland offers many attractive business opportunities, particularly in renewables and infrastructure, which offer the prospects of good returns for substantial investors," he said. "Worldwide market forces make this an attractive time to invest in long-term viable capital projects."
