
The calendar adjusted industrial production of Turkey increased by 4.6% in July compared to the same month last year, while the seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production rose by 0.9% compared to the previous month. The Turkish Statistical Institute announced on Monday the results of the Industrial Production Index for July2013. According to the data issued in the Industrial Production Index, the seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production increased by 0.9% in July compared to the previous month while the calendar adjusted industrial production rose by 4.6% compared to the same month last year. In the sub sectors of the industry (based on 2010=100), mining and quarrying decreased by 1.8%, manufacturing increased by 1.1% while the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index increased by 0.5% in July 2013, compared with the previous month. In July 2013, mining and quarrying fell by 2.3%, manufacturing rose by 6.2% and the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index decreased by 1.6% in July 2013, compared to the same month last year. Labour force costs The Turkish Statistical Institute also issued on Monday the Labour Cost Index for the second quarter of2013. The hourly labour cost index with base year 2010 showing the hourly changes in entire seasonally and calendar adjusted labour cost items rose by 3.6% in the second quarter of 2013 compared to the previous quarter for the total of the covered economic activities. The breakdown by economic activity indicates that this increase was 2.6% for the industry sector,1.1% for the construction sector and 0.6% for the services sector.
