
The total trade between the U.A.E. and the United States dropped by around 22 per cent to US$11.67 billion (Dh42.83 billion) in the first half of this year compared with US$14.92 billion (Dh54.76 billion) in the corresponding period last year. According to the United States Departments of Commerce, the U.A.E. imports from the United States fell by around 23 per cent to US$10.41 billion (Dh38.21 billion) in the first 6 months of this year compared with US$13.52 billion (Dh49.62 billion) in the first half of last year. The U.A.E. exports to the United States also fell by around 9 per cent to US$1.27 billion (Dh4.66 billion) in the first half of this year compared with US$1.4 billion (Dh5.14 billion) in the first half of 2013.
By this, the deficit of the U.A.E. balance of trade with the United States dropped by around 25 per cent from US$12.12 billion (Dh44.48 billion) in the first half of last year to US$9.14 billion (Dh33.54 billion) in the first half of this year.
