
Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Egypt on January 20 comes at a crucial time, especially in light of Egypt's keenness on luring more foreign investors, said Egypt's Ambassador to China Magdy Amer.
In exclusive statements to China Daily, Amer said that Egypt is situated in the center among the various markets and regional opportunities.
Development is considered the first step to stabilize Egypt, he said, adding that China can play a crucial role in this respect.
He also pointed out to the New Suez Canal project, which was finalized in a short period through local resources.
This project has intensified communication with the Middle East, North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa in Africa.
The Egyptian and Chinese sides need to enhance bilateral ties in the various spheres, he said.
China will take part in several projects in Egypt, including energy, transportation and infrastructure projects in the New Suez Canal area, he went on to say.
Egypt owns a special economic zone like the
Tianjin Economic - Technological Development Area (TEDA) in China, he said.
Media adviser of the Egyptian Embassy in Beijing Hoda Gaddalh, for her part, said that the Chinese president will discuss during his visit to Egypt conditions in the Middle East and bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.
Several agreements and MoUs are expected to be signed between Egypt and China in spheres of trade, investment, transportation and infrastructure projects.
