Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C (Alba), a leading aluminium producer of the world, strengthened its commitment to empower its Bahraini workforce with enhanced responsibilities with the announcement of the latest batch of Training & Development Programme (TDP) for employees from its Power Group.
A total of 25 employees from various departments in Power have been selected to undergo TDP, which will be conducted by the Power Group along with Training & Recruitment Department. Upon completion, the selected candidates will be entrusted with greater responsibilities and management positions such as Supervisor, Engineer, Senior Shift Charge Engineer, Planner, etc.
As a complement to this initiative, Alba will sponsor the advanced education, such as HND, BSc and MBA with universities in Bahrain as well as overseas, of the selected employees.
Commenting on this latest initiative, Alba's Chief Executive Officer, Tim Murray said:
"Since its inception, Alba has invested in its employees, which has yielded positive results and today, the company ranks amongst the top smelters in the world. The Training & Development Programme is one of our major initiatives to boost Bahrainisation and is aimed at further consolidating Alba's success by raising the professional calibre of its Bahraini employees to world class standards."
Alba’s TDP for Bahraini nationals involves identifying a select group of Bahraini employees based on their knowledge and skills, initiatives shown in the line of duty, and demonstration of potential growth. These employees are then given additional training, which enables them to apply for positions in both middle and senior level management.
Currently, around 87 per cent of Alba’s employees are Bahraini nationals. On-going training initiatives and scope for professional development coupled with attractive incentives have strengthened Alba's status as an employer of choice amongst Bahraini nationals
