Dubai Electricity and Water Authority ( DEWA ) has awarded contracts worth AED 203 million for 620km of 11kV power cables to a number of national companies as part of its efforts to provide services to the highest levels of efficiency and reliability, and to meet the criteria for its electricity distribution network expansion.
The contract covers the manufacture and supply of the aluminium and copper cables necessary for expanding electricity distribution in various areas of Dubai. This is to meet the continued growth in demand for electricity from consumers.
"These cables will be used in several projects by DEWA and will contribute to increasing the capacity, efficiency and reliability of our distribution network and ensure an uninterrupted and reliable supply of electricity to our customers. We expect the manufacture and supply of these cables will be completed by April 2015," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA .
