
Minister of Transport and Communications Hani Dhahi met on Tuesday with representatives of China's Huawei company, one of the world’s top three manufacturers and suppliers of telecommunication equipment for wired, mobile, and optical communication networks, as part of his current visit to China.
In statements to MENA on Tuesday, Director of Foreign Relations and Media Ayman Al-Sherie at the minister's office said the Chinese company has huge investments in the development of smart transport systems.
He said the minister agreed with the company on implementing an experimental project for the smart transport systems that could raise the performance of the mass transit system and the safety of vehicular traffic in accordance with international standards to decrease traffic accidents.
The project will be firstly implemented in Cairo's ring road and in case of its success, it will be applied nationwide, he added.
