
Etisalat Chairman Mohammad Hassan Omran has been presented with the Leadership Award for Best Telecom Services at the annual Teletimes-International Industry Excellence Awards in Pakistan. The award was presented by Pakistan's Federal Finance Minister, Dr Hafiz Shaikh. The award ceremony was organised and managed by Teletimes-International magazine, and recognised various organisations from across the continent that have implemented best practice and set new benchmarks in services, strategy, technology and leadership. The Advisory Council who judged the awards comprised senior leaders from across the industry. Omran has worked for etisalat for over three decades and served in many different positions until he became Chairman in 2005. He has overseen many of the company's major achievements and led etisalat into new markets through a number of expansions and global investments in Asia and Africa. Article continues below Under his leadership etisalat has positioned itself among the best international service operator in the world and achieved a solid financial and operational presence in more than 18 countries. In the last five years etisalat has taken stakes in existing operators in West Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Indonesia.
