Honda Motor Co. said it would extend production at U.S. and Canadian plants due to flooding in Thailand. In a news release, Honda said parts suppliers in Thailand have been "unable to maintain parts production." In response, the company said all six U.S. and Canadian factories would have production schedules altered. Honda earlier had said North American production would be cut by 50 percent due to the flooding, that has plagued Thailand since July. On Tuesday, Honda said the reduction would vary from plant to plant, but some plants "will produce at rates above the previously announced 50 percent" reduction. Honda said it would adjust production at least through Nov. 25 in Canada and Nov. 23 in the United States. Honda has also added a non-production day to its schedule. In addition to Nov. 11, the company has added Nov. 11, to its non-production schedule. Non-production days are handled as "no pay, no penalty" days in which workers can "report to work, use a vacation day, or take the day off without compensation or penalty," Honda said.
