
Indonesian ambassador to Tehran Dian Wirengjurit announced that his country plans to help Iran to set up assembly-line of Toyota cars in Aras Free Zone in the Northwestern parts of the country.
"Negotiations with the head of the Indonesian plant of Toyota Company have been held and he has agreed with launching assembly-line of Toyota cars in Aras Free Zone," the Indonesian ambassador said in a meeting with Managing Director of Aras Free Zone Mohsen Khadem on Wednesday.
The Indonesian ambassador pointed to the production of 1.5 million cars in Iran, and said, "This is a valuable time to import raw materials and tires to Iran with no third party involved."
The managing director of Aras Free Zone, for his part, pointed to the advantages of foreign investment in Aras Zone, and said, "Aras has the infrastructures needed for different industries."
The Indonesian ambassador arrived in Aras Trade Zone on Wednesday morning to visit the zone's different industries.
Iranian and Indonesian officials have on many occasions stressed their resolve to expand bilateral relations and mutual cooperation in different fields.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in March called for the further enhancement of Tehran-Jakarta ties.
During the meeting in the Indonesian capital, the Indonesian president pointed to the friendly Iran-Indonesia relations, and said, “A visit to Indonesia by President Hassan Rouhani of Iran will help to further expand bilateral ties.”
President Susilo underlined that the Iranian and Indonesian diplomats has constructive negotiations so far, and said, “Such interaction will boost bilateral cooperation between the two Asian countries.”
The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, said Iran enjoys close and friendly relationship with Indonesia, adding, “We respect the Indonesian government and nation.”
Zarif underlined that diplomatic relations between Iran and Indonesia have continued ever since their establishment in 1950.
