RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) has recently celebrated five major safety milestones of 2014, including 50 million man-hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) at the corporate level, the company said in a press release issued on Wednesday.
The other feats are 20 million man-hours without LTI at the operations group level, 30 million man-hours without LTI achieved by the operation projects department, 18 years without LTI by the shorebase team of the offshore asset and the safe shutdowns of 2014.
Speaking at a special ceremony in Ras Laffan to celebrate these safety achievements, RasGas Chief Executive Officer Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi said, "Each and every one of these is a remarkable achievement on their own but together, demonstrate the unwavering commitment of our employees to safety as a core value and as a corporate strategic choice." RasGas has established a strong culture of safety awareness, where implementing and maintaining a safe work environment through its safety strategies, systems and processes, is inherent in daily work practices. RasGas employees take personal responsibility for their own safety and for that of their colleagues.
The company also recognized the critical role of its contractors in ensuring safety as a priority and maintaining a safe work environment in all of its facilities.
