Sales of new cars in Spain rose by 26.2 percent in September when compared with a year earlier, Spanish industry organizations reported on Wednesday.
The Association of Car Manufacturers (ANFAC), the Federation of Associations of Dealers of the Automotive sector (FACONAUTO) and the Association of Car Dealers (GANVAM) posted a total of 57,010 new cars purchased in September.
Purchases made by individuals increased by 27.6 percent in September when compared with the same month of a year earlier to a total of 36,610 purchases, while those made by firms reached 17,232, which meant a 17.5 percent increase in comparison with September 2013.
The number of purchases has increased by 17.2 percent in the first nine months of the year to a total of 640,673 vehicles when compared with the same period of a year earlier and organizations of the sector expect that purchases will reach 850,000 by the end of the year.
Despite this optimism they said that the Plan PIVE, which encourages people to buy a new car thanks to the government and the sector financial aid, was still necessary.
The President of GANVAM Juan Antonio Sanchez said he was optimistic about the figures as purchases continue unabated. He expects that purchases will increase by around 21 percent this year in comparison with 2013.
