Telecom Egypt, the country's main telephone company, announced the areas targeted this month for replacing the current network of copper cables with the new fiber optic cables to provide excellent quality of communication services.
In a statement, the company said this month the cable replacements will take place in western Cairo (Tebein, Zamalek, Helwan, Deir Maymon and Shubra El Kheima), New Cairo (Khanka, Shorouk City, Badr City and Obour City), Giza (October City, Dokki, Mohandessin, Imbaba, Bulaq, Zayed City, Haram and Bashteel).
The company also announced the targeted districts in other governorates.
The procedures might cause a change in the current telephone landline number and temporary disruption of landline services.
