52% of Greeks want to stay in eurozone

Despite its economic problems, which many attribute to the memorandum agreed between Athens and international creditors, the majority of Greeks continue to want their country to remain in the eurozone, even though this could mean further sacrifices for them and for their families. An opinion poll published by the authoritative weekly Real News has shown that 52.2% of Greeks remain in favour of the euro, while 28.8% want a radical review of the memorandum, even if this entails the risk of a return to the country's old currency, the drachma. At the same time, Greeks are becoming increasingly pessimistic with regard to their country's future, with 94.5% of those interviewed saying that the situation is likely to get even worse.
