
Under the auspices of the Minister of Works Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, the Ministry of Works, in coordination with the Japanese Embassy in Bahrain, today organized a Forum titled (Japanese expertise in sanitary engineering).The forum was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Sanitary Engineer Khalifa Al-Mansour, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism, Japan's Ambassador to Bahrain Hijiki Sumi, Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Undersecretary Ambassador Karim Al-Shukur, Director of the Department of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Dhafir Omran, Deputy Chairman of the Bahraini-Japanese Friendship Society Nasser Al-Ouraidh, in addition to Bahraini and Japanese engineers and experts.The Works Minister, in his speech, asserted that the forum is an opportunity for the Japanese to show their expertise in the field of technology to contribute to providing solutions related to sanitary sector and cleaning Tubli Bay.He praised the solid relations between the two countries and the role of the Japanese Embassy in intensifying Japanese businessmen visits and meeting their Bahraini counterparts to enhance the volume of trade and revive investment.A brief explanation was presented on the sanitary sector and rainwater drainage systems and treated water, which is used for irrigational and agricultural purposes in Bahrain.The forum discussed problems facing the sanitary system, where the Tubli Bay issue was highlighted and the need to rehabilitate it.The Japanese experts commended the Muharraq Wastewater Treatment Plant Project in terms of coping with the development demands and following international standards.
