Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) has for the first time imported two fully assembled Rolls-Royce sedans after they passed inspection by the quality watchdog on Monday. There are 14 ports for whole-car imports across China, and most of them are seaports. BCIA is the only airport to provide such service. The two Rolls-Royce cars, worth more than 20 million yuan (3.24 million U.S. dollars), were imported by BMW China Automotive Trading Ltd. Compared with shipping, airfreighting can save about one month for the importer. The import station of BCIA is expected to receive more than 700 finished vehicles made overseas each year, which will be worth 230 million U.S. dollars. The newly-added customs duty, import value-added tax and consumption levy are expected to reach 2.16 billion yuan, according to the municipal commerce commission.
