An Austrian chancellor asserted on Thursday that there are no decisions planned at an upcoming EU summit in Brussels within the next two days, noting that there would be discussions about mid and long-term EU developments. Among other things, the EU heads of state and government were going to discuss the possibilities of the Eurozone having its own financial resources, said Chancellor Werner Faymann, adding that he hoped that the financial transaction tax would also be discussed. Also, Faymann said that other topics were to include more coordination in certain political areas and better shared management of state debts. On the subject of the banking union, Faymann pointed out that it was a short-term goal, which was "why one should not wait too long with the start of banking supervision." The goal was being able to start monitoring banks next year; at the very least those that were being supported by the states.
