China's top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Monday called for enhanced coordination between China and Russia in the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (IAESCSI). Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top advisory body, made the remarks while meeting with Evgeny Velikhov, IAESCSI president and chairman of the Russian Public Council. Hailing the sound momentum of China-Russia ties, Yu said the successful meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Sochi during the Winter Olympics in February, had strengthened the relationship between the two countries. China hopes to further enhance strategic cooperation with Russia, to transform the advantages of their political ties into more substantial results to benefit the two peoples, he said. Yu spoke highly of the coordination between the China Economic and Social Council and the Russian Public Council in the IAESCSI, urging closer exchanges between the two organizations to boost friendship between the two peoples. Velikhov said Russia was willing to strengthen coordination with China in the IAESCSI.
