The third China-Vietnam public security ministerial meeting on cooperation against crime opened here Tuesday with the attendance of Chinese Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu and his Vietnamese counterpart Tran Dai Quang. During the meeting, Meng said since its inception in 2008, the mechanism of the two countries'cooperation in the fight against crime has served as a platform for the two ministries to enhance mutual trust and make feasible plans for cooperation, which has strongly pushed forward the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam. Meng said with joint efforts of both sides, participants to the meeting achieved consensus on a wide range of issues, including the fight against terrorism, illegal immigration, trafficking of women and children, drug production and trade, gambling, telecommunications fraud and counterfeit money. Meng stressed that the two countries' public security ministries should take this opportunity to implement the consensus of the meeting, tap the cooperation potentials, raise the level of bilateral cooperation in combating crime and maintaining social order, in order to contribute to the long-term healthy and stable development of China-Vietnam relations. Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, for his part, said Vietnam attaches great importance to the meeting, considering it an opportunity for the two countries to enhance law enforcement cooperation and deepen bilateral relations. The profound change of regional security situation requires the two sides to strengthen exchanges, enhance mutual trust, expand consensus and promote law enforcement and security cooperation, he added. After the meeting, the two ministers signed Minutes of the third China-Vietnam Public Security Ministerial Meeting on Cooperation Against Crime.
