The Mining Ministers of Sudan, Egypt and Libya Thursday signed in Khartoum a protocol of joint cooperation in the field of mineral wealth following a meeting of deliberations. The protocol deals with reactivation of the cooperation between the technical organs in the three countries in the fields of geological survey and mineral exploration at the joint border area and presenting integration projects in the spheres of geological studies, studies on rocks of the Arab - Nubian Shield and mining pattern at the border areas. The protocol also relates to attracting investments for implementing joint mining projects at the border, setting timetable for implementing the protocol and formation of a joint technical follow up technical committee. According to the agreement, a joint technical committee of the undersecretaries of the Ministries of Mining in Sudan, Egypt and Libya shall meet every three months to follow up implementation of the agreements. Meanwhile, the meeting appreciated a proposal presented by Sudan on establishment of the Mining Development Fund and agreed on realizing maximum added-value for the mineral exports and exchange of experiences. The Ministers of Mining of Sudan, Egypt and Libya have visited the Gold Oil Refinery and got informed on Sudan experiment in the gold refining.
