Kuwait's Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of State for Planning and Development Rola Abdullah Dashti invited Tuesday South Korean companies to contribute to the development projects in Kuwait. Minister Dashti told KUNA that it has made the invitation during a meeting with Chairman of Korean Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) which provides total integrated Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services. She called on the KEPCO to increase its investments in Kuwait and to participate in the development projects tenders. KEPCO designed and built a total of 14 nuclear power plants using their own technology, including the development of APR1400 next-generation nuclear power plant. The company has also designed and built over 40 coal power plants and combined cycle and cogeneration plants. The Minister also held talks with Vice-President of the Korean Development Institute (KDI) Kim Joo-hoon on cooperation between the Kuwaiti government and the prestigious institute. Since its inception in 1971, the KDI, has been recognized as a leading think tank of Korea significantly contributing to the economic and social development of Korea. For over three decades, KDI has consistently provided policy recommendations and guidance based on in-depth analyses of international and domestic economic conditions and projections while conducting preemptive and empirical studies. The KDI is in partnership with 33 world countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman. "Kuwait had signed a memorandum of understanding with the KDI, but it expired and the government is seeking to renew it," Dashti told KUNA.
