Dr. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) and Dr. Kwon Tae Kyun, Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea in the State, have discussed prospects to boost cooperation between the center and the Korean research institutions. Al-Suwaidi, during a meeting here at the centre with Korean envoy, stressed the importance of strengthening the constructive cooperation between the UAE and South Korea to establish bilateral economic partnership and also with the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States. They also discussed existing cooperation between the ECSSR and the Korean research institutions in particularly the "The Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP)." On his part, the Korean Ambassador thanked the spirit of cooperation and partnership between his country in the UAE , referring to evolution in the diplomatic relations between the two countries since its inception in 1980. He said that trade volume between the two countries reached a whopping US$ 17.7 billion in 2010, making the UAE the second largest trading partner in the Middle East.
