The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has recently launched the Palestine Business Council for Dubai and northern emirates. This is in line with the long felt need for boosting economic cooperation and enhancement of trade and commerce between the business communities of Dubai and Palestine. The newly-formed Palestine Business Council which brings the number of councils operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chamber to 43 has 28 companies, co-owned and operated in Dubai by Palestinian businessmen from general trading, industry, engineering, construction, banking services and many other sectors. Mahdi Al Mazim, Director, Members Services, Dubai Chamber, stated that the Palestine Business Council’s joining of the long list of business councils functioning under the aegis of the Chamber is a step in the right direction as this will help strengthen bilateral ties between the two sides. Al Mazim highlighted Dubai Chamber’s role in facilitating all business activities under its strategic objectives of creating a favourable business environment and promoting Dubai as an international business hub. Highlighting the important role played by the various business groups and business councils, Al Mazim said that these entities directly support the trade sector, which is one of the leading drivers of the emirate’s economic engine as they also contribute to promoting the competitiveness of Dubai’s business community in the local, regional and international markets. Samir Ebrahim Abdul Hadi, Chairman of the Palestine Business Council, said that the idea behind the establishment of the Council was to support investors from both the sides as well as to encourage and consolidate two-way trade between them.
