Egypt's interim President Adli Mansour on Wednesday appointed former prime minister Kamal el- Ganzouri as his advisor for economic affairs, official news agency MENA reported. Ganzouri was appointed as prime minister during the rule of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) which assumed the country's affairs after the 2011 political upheaval that toppled former president Hosni Mubarak. He also occupied the post of premier during Mubarak's regime from 1996 to 1999. Egypt is currently witnessing a complete change after the army ousted Islamist-oriented president Mohamed Morsi on July 3, responding to millions of people who protested his "poor performance" since he took office a year ago. The caretaker government headed by Prime Minister Hazem Beblawi was sworn in on Tuesday. No one from Islamic parties is included in the interim cabinet.
