Members of UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) began their General Conference on Saturday to discuss Milleneum Development Goals (MDGs), particularly those related to addressing hunger. FAO Director General Jose Graziano da Silva, addressing conferees, said 38 countries, including Kuwait, have so far completed compliance with MDGs by decreasing number of hunger people by half before the 2015 deadline. These countries are leading the march towards a better future "as they have shown the ability of the strong political will, coordination and cooperation to achieving rapid and sustainable cuts in hunger levels," Da Silva said. He called on all countries to continue working to completely eradicate hunger. Despite the lowering number of hunger people in the past decade, noted da Silva, there were still 870 million people suffering malnutrition while millions others lack vitamins and essential nutritious substances. "Efforts should continue so everybody can live decent life," he said.
