German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble called on Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana during his two-day visit in this city-state, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday. During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed the bilateral ties between the two countries. They also exchanged ideas on development in the eurozone and Asia, and their implications for the global economy. Schaeuble also said here during a forum that the market should not underestimate Germany's determination to hold the eurozone together, local media Channel NewsAsia reported, adding that "it would be damaging to speculate if Greece will exit the eurozone". "I can tell you, Germany and the other European states will stick to the monetary union," Schaeuble added. Schaeuble started his two-day visit in Singapore from Saturday. He made that statement at the Singapore-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
