Grain futures closed higher in Chicago Tuesday with the dollar index off 0.41 percent.Corn was up 4 1/4 to up 5 1/4, soybeans were up 3 1/4 to up 5, wheat was up 7 3/4 to up 10 and oats were up 4 1/2 to up 5. Price gains were moderated by harvest pressure -- the corn harvest reportedly 15 percent done as of Sunday. Wheat prices rose with farmers reporting winter wheat planting 26 percent done. Soybeans rose in sympathy with a rebound in oil prices. Farmers report the soybean harvest is just underway, 5 percent done in the major soybean producing states. The prices: Corn: Dec 6.52 1/4 up 4 1/4, Mar 6.65 3/4 up 4 1/2, May 6.73 1/4 up 4 1/2, Jly 6.78 up 5 1/4. Soybeans: Nov 12.63 up 3 1/4, Jan 12.75 up 3 3/4, Mar 12.82 1/2 up 4 1/2, May 12.87 3/4 up 5. Wheat: Dec 6.58 1/4 up 10, Mar 6.92 up 8 3/4, May 7.07 3/4 up 8 1/4, Jly 7.12 up 7 3/4. Oats: Dec 3.34 1/2 up 4 1/2, Mar 3.45 1/2 up 4 1/2, May 3.53 1/2 up 5, Jly 3.59 1/2 up 5.
