ICAO postpones periodic inspection of Cairo Airport

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) postponed a periodic inspection of Cairo International Airport facilities and buildings over the current unrest in the country, an Egyptian official said Friday. Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority head Mohamed Ibrahim said a scheduled visitation by IACO to inspect the safety and security of the airport and passengers has been deferred for the current turmoil in the country, adding that the organization will set another date next month for the inspection process. The inspection was supposed to start on Sunday for five days. Ibrahim added that the Cairo Airport was subjected to two inspections in one month by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and British Air Transport Authority (BATA), and both bodies praised the adopted safety and security measures in the airport. Ibrahim stressed that the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority is ready at any time to receive the delegation of ICAO to proceed their inspection.
