Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said Thursday that the Bali Communique resulted from the UN's Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) high panel meeting in Bali would contribute significantly to the creation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework."Before 2015 ends, there would be a new cooperation framework to replace the MDGs and it would probably be called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," Yudhoyono, who co-chairs the high panel meeting, told a press conference in Nusa Dua, Bali.Yudhoyono said that during the fourth high panel meeting which ended on Thursday, delegates discussed the importance of global cooperation in attaining the SDGs.He added that cooperation between developed and developing countries and poverty alleviation efforts were also discussed, the Antara news agency reported.The Indonesian president said that Bali Communique contains five key points, expected to drive global efforts in attaining SDGs beyond 2015.Documents resulted from the fourth UN's MDGs high panel meeting was scheduled to be presented to UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon in New York in May this year.The two-day UN's MDGs high panel meeting opened on Wednesday, discussing global cooperation in seeking ways to address development agendas after the expiration of MDGs in 2015.The MDGs are eight international development goals that were officially established following the Millennium Summit of the UN in 2000 which agreed to achieve these goals by the year 2015. The goals are eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality and empowering women, reducing child mortality rate, improving maternal health, combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases, ensuring environmental sustainability, and developing a global partnership for development.
