Iran, Turkey keen to expand trade ties

Tehran and Ankara lauded the existing trade relations between the two friendly states, and underlined the need to accelerate expansion of mutual cooperation in all arenas, specially trade transactions. Iran's Ambassador to Turkey Alireza Bigdeli, in a meeting with Turkish Customs and Trade Minister Hayati Yazici, said that Iran and Turkey are happy with the existing customs cooperation, saying they are willing to broaden their ties between the two Muslim nations. Yazici, for his part, underlined the need for higher transactions between Iran and Turkey which would be commensurate to historic, cultural and social commonalities between the two countries. Iran and Turkey have broadened their relations in various fields of economy, security, trade, education, energy and culture in the recent years. The two sides have exchanged several politico-economic delegations during the last few months. Turkey imports more than 90 percent of its oil and gas. Iran and Turkey are determined to boost their trade exchanges to $35bln in the near future.
