
Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Hussain Al-Shahristani met here on Thursday with Iranian Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Morteza Sarmadi. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed means of boosting ties between the two countries on all fronts. In this regard, Al-Shahristani expressed his government’s keenness on expanding aspects of trade and economic cooperation with Iran especially as both countries seize huge oil reserves, which will be a major energy source for the region and the world. He also urged Iranian companies to enter the Iraqi market to participate in reconstruction projects.
