Japan, India officials discuss economies, security

Japan’s foreign minister is meeting top Indian officials in New Delhi to discuss increased political, security and economic cooperation between the nations. Koichiro Gemba on Monday met with Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna. An Indian government statement said that senior officials also met to discuss energy efficiency and conservation issues. India has been the largest recipient of Japanese development aid for several years. Japanese involvement and help to infrastructure development projects in India has been growing. Bilateral trade was $13.2 billion during January-September last year, up 24 percent from 2010.
