A high-level Japanese business delegation is visiting Vietnam and Myanmar, where rapid growth is possible. The delegation is headed by chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tadashi Okamura. Meetings are scheduled with ministers in charge of economic affairs and business representatives in the 2 countries during the 7-day visit beginning on Sunday, according to Japan’s (NHK WORLD) website. It is the first time that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has sent a large delegation to Myanmar. Its members are scheduled to meet President Thein Sein. Myanmar, with a population of over 60 million, can provide inexpensive labor and has abundant natural resources, including natural gas and copper. Myanmar is increasingly looking promising as a place for investment, particularly after many Japanese premises were damaged during recent violent demonstrations in China.
