The Machinery and Chemical Industry Institution (MKEK) of Turkey exported half of its weapons and ammunition to Saudi Arabia in 2012. MKEK, the main supplier of Turkish Armed Forces, keeps its range of production in four main groups including ammunition, rockets, weapons and explosives. MKEK not only serves the Turkish Armed Forces but also takes share in the International Defence Industry Market by exporting to more than 40 countries including Argentina, Vietnam, USA, Switzerland, Thailand and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Increasing its exports year by year, MKEK exported 104 million and 432 thousand Turkish Liras worth of weapons and ammunition to 28 countries in 2012. 52.6 million Turkish Liras worth of exports were made to Saudi Arabia in 2012 followed by Bahrain and Pakistan. MKEK aims to increase its exports to 75 million dollars in 2013.
