Kuwait will be participating at the 4th Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Housing and Urban Development (APMCHUD), which will be held in Amman from 10-12 December, under the title of "Youth and Information Technology in Sustainable Urban Development". General Director for Housing Welfare Mr. Subhi Yousef Al-Mulla will be heading the Kuwaiti delegation, which will also include Hadi Al-Shalahi, Abdulmohsin Al-Bannai and Anwar Al-Hulaila. Nine ministers and around 400 officials and experts from 16 countries will be participating in the three-day conference, Yahia Al Kasabi, Jordan's Minister of Public Works and Housing, said in a statement. Jordan's hosting of the conference stems from its faith in the importance of exchanging knowledge, views, experience and regional and international policies on enabling access to housing, he added. The conference will conclude its activities with the announcement for it to become a roadmap that helps the member countries in setting their policies, renewing their services and meeting people's housing needs, which reflect in the sectors of construction, finance and direct and indirect ones in the housing sector. For his part, Faris Al-Jinaidi, Director General of Housing and Urban Development Corporation, said that the conference that is organized by the corporation in cooperation with the UN-Habitat, will delve into several sub-themes, which are 'Youth and IT in Urban Planning and Management' and 'Livelihood Opportunities for Youth'. The conference will also discuss 'Youth Involvement and use of IT in Water and Sanitation,' 'Opportunity for Financing Youth-led Sustainable Development' and 'Youth as city changer for prosperous cities'. APMCHUD is a consultative mechanism that was established in 2008 with technical support from UN-Habitat on the promotion of sustainable development of housing and urban development, which includes 68 member states, 11 of which are Arab countries
