Malaysia's total trade in May rose 11.1% to RM112.95 billion, riding on the upward export momentum, said International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed. Malaysian News Agency (Bernama) quoted the International Trade Minister as saying that exports expanded 6.7% to RM58.78 billion compared with the same month last year, supported by growth in trade with Singapore, China and India. Imports grew by 16.2% to RM54.17 billion in May, he said in the preliminary release of Malaysia's external trade statistics between January and May. On month-on-month basis, he said, exports and imports for the month grew 1.8% and 7.9%, respectively, resulting in a 4.6% trade surplus.
