
A total of 159 Myanmar migrant workers have returned to Yangon from Malaysia over the last three days for safety after being attacked in Kuala Lumpur, according to official media on Monday. Their return by free flights offered by Myanmar Airways International (MAI) and Air Kanbawza has brought the total number of the returnees to 7,827 so far. Employers here are offering jobs for garment factories, restaurants, electronics and related fields, construction sites, automobile assembling, hotels and driving. "We organize interview between employers and workers returning from Malaysia and willing to explore employment here," said Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security officials. There are more than 400,000 Myanmar migrant workers in Malaysia, according to the Myanmar embassy. About 300,000 are legal workers, while about 40,000 are illegal and about 90,000 are in various process of applying for refugee status.
