
Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Dr. Juma'a bin Ahmed Al Ka'abi held today a meeting with Acting Head of Muharraq Municipal Council Ali Yaqoob Al-Moqla, in the presence of Muharraq Municipality Director General Saleh Ibrahim Al Fadhala.They stressed that priority in the new-look Muharraq Central Market will be given to the existing shop owners. They discussed procedures taken by the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry, in coordination with the council to revamp the market and prepare the temporary location.They agreed to set up a joint technical committee to follow up on the work progress and remove obstacles to the project.The Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister said the meeting is in line with the directives of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister to speed up implementation of development projects in Muharraq. He pointed out that all needed licences have been issued including the demolition licence which was issued in August 2013.He added the project will represent an added value to provide people in Muharraq with optimum services.Within the same context, Board Chairman of the Muharraq Central Market Company For Real Estate Development Dr. Mohammed Juma'an said the company has embarked on preparing the temporary location to dislocate traders and ensure continuity of their business during the demolition and revamp work.
