
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) concluded on Friday, February 21, a Multi-Disciplinary Training Course for petroleum specialists from its Member Countries. More than 45 employees of Member Country oil ministries and national oil companies took part in the week-long training course held by OPEC at its headquarters in the Austrian Capital, Vienna. The participants listened to detailed presentations delivered by OPEC's experts that tackled a wide range of topics such as an introduction to OPEC's Secretariat, the activities of OPEC's Public Relations and Information Department, short- and long-term oil market outlooks, data collecting and administration, IT and human resources matters as well as the role of the Legal Office and the Office of the Secretary General within the Secretariat. The trainees also visited OPEC's sister organization, the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID). They were briefed by OFID's staff on its activities and how it extends loans and assistance to a wide range of developing countries to help boost sustainable economic development.
