
Pakistan, Norway and Denmark agreed that the three countries would push for a goal on sustainable energy for all as part of the post-2015 Development Agenda, said an official press release Wednesday. According to the press release, the three countries made a joint statement on their resolve to expedite efforts to ensure energy for all after Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif joined his Norwegian counterpart Jens Stoltenberg and Denmark's Minister for Development Co-operation of Denmark Christian Friis Bach, who are also co-chairing a 32 member countries Group of Friends on Sustainable Energy for All. The leaders of the three countries met on the margins of the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly and were joined by Kandeh Yumkella, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Chief Executive for Sustainable Energy for All. The three leaders pledged their full support to the Secretary-General's initiative on Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) as a global partnership that can move the world forward. Ealier, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif arrived in New York to lead the delegation from Pakistan in UNGA session and all the three leaders agreed that creating viable framework for achieving sustainable energy for all will require active engagement and participation by all stakeholders, including governments, private sector, civil society, the UN System and the multilateral development banks, including the World Bank Group.
